FAQ

Learn more about Red Fennel kitchen meal plans.

why meal plans?

I think that everyone has the ability to cook well for themselves, and I *know* that a lot of people already enjoy cooking. But I also know that as many people feel overwhelmed by the decision fatigue that meal planning can exacerbate. My meal plans are designed to help with some of that decision fatigue by pairing meals, making a single, cohesive grocery list, and providing step by step instructions on how to either prep the meals all in one go, or how to set yourself up for easier weeknight cooking.

so it’s a food blog?

It’s much more that a food blog. Food blogs are collections of individual recipes that exist in and of themselves. My meal plans are designed to extend beyond a single recipe and teach you how to multitask in the kitchen. In essence, I am teaching you to become your own personal chef.

if you’re already a personal chef, why are you encouraging people to be their own personal chef?

Being a personal chef is just part of what I do; I want people to feel comfortable and confident in their own kitchens. As a personal chef I can help a tiny percentage of the population get delicious meals on the dinner table. By teaching others how to be their own personal chef, I am able to help a much larger group of people! (Plus, just because people can cook, doesn’t mean they want to. These meal plans are designed for people who want to be better, more efficient cooks.)

where do the recipes come from?

Most of the recipes are ones I’ve used for personal chef clients and tweaked for allergies, dietary preferences, or to make them more meal-prep friendly. Some of the meals are original ideas. All of them are delicious!

I have an allergy or dietary restriction. Can I use the meal plans?

Yes! I have designed many of the meal plans with common food allergies and dietary restrictions in mind.

why do the plans not cover a full week of meals?

I want people to have room for life, whether that’s saying ‘yes’ to a last minute dinner out, deciding to order in, being inspired by another recipe they found online, or something else! I really want to reduce food waste as much as possible and I find that planning out every single meal in that way is more likely to create food waste. You’re always more than welcome to double a recipe or order a custom meal plan if you want to have more meals available throughout the week.

Is nutrition information available for meal plans?

At this time I do not offer nutrition information for the meal plans, but clients are more than welcome to use the ingredient lists to calculate for themselves.
